The Editor’s Word

Art is one of the most magical sources that brings forth new ideas and embodies new unseen forms that become signs and symbols of life.

Each country has accumulated and is accumulating a great creative and spiritual potential in this field. This publication has been conceived as a wide integration of visual culture. It is meant for both professional artists and everyone interested in art. Each of us seeks to find in another person something that would supplement the essence of his or her self. The Baltic Sea both separates and unites us. Faith, love, customs, traditions and art are both common and different. Common things unite, and differences supplement one another and expand the horizons.

In this publication we present works of the most remarkable and interesting artists of the Baltic countries. It will cover all genres: sculpture, painting, graphic art, glass, ceramics, textile, set design, jewelry, design, photography... The crucial feature of the 20th century art is various art styles and trends manifesting alongside each other. This phenomenon proves that communication is based not only on identical things, but also on differences and unexpected deviations.

A work of art is born when it is created, but it becomes art only when it is experienced... A work of art is born continuously, but it does not always become art. It is waiting to be discovered.
